Welcome to The Therapy Zoom - a warm, confidential online counselling service where you can engage in compassion focused counselling, talk openly, be heard, and feel supported, all from the comfort of your home.
The Therapy Zoom offers professional counselling through secure online therapy sessions, combining convenience and affordability. With a client-led approach, sessions are arranged at your pace and around your life, allowing you to choose what feels right for you with the guidance of a qualified psychotherapist.
My name is Shirley Rocks, and I am a qualified psychotherapist with experience supporting individuals through grief, trauma, anxiety, low confidence, life transitions, and the impact of addiction within families.
Alongside my private practice, I have experience working as an online therapist with BetterHelp, facilitating online therapy sessions that utilize secure digital platforms. This experience has provided me with extensive insight into what works well in online therapy and, just as importantly, how to ensure sessions remain warm, relational, and genuinely human, even when delivered remotely.
My approach is grounded in compassionate, client-led, and solution-focused counselling. I believe change occurs when we feel safe, understood, and respected, not pressured or “fixed.” Therapy isn’t about staying stuck in painful experiences; it’s about developing curiosity around what has been shaped by our past, learning to meet ourselves with kindness, and discovering new possibilities for moving forward. Together, we focus on building understanding, resilience, and inner resources— your personal “toolkit”— to support you both within and beyond the therapy space.
Where helpful, I may gently introduce practical supports such as:
- Reflective Worksheets
- Journaling and writing prompts
- Books or online resource recommendations
- Gentle Goal Setting
- Between session check-ins
These are always optional, collaborative, and adapted to suit you.

Each online therapy session lasts 50 minutes and is priced at £45 per session, providing access to qualified psychotherapists who specialize in compassion focused counseling.
Payment is due prior to your appointment for compassion focused counselling via PayPal or bank transfer. Cancellations are accepted 24 hours in advance. If you need to cancel your online therapy sessions within this timeframe, your payments can be applied to your next session. Late cancellations (less than 24 hours notice) incur a £15 charge, as set by our qualified psychotherapist.

Each session is a safe, confidential space where we can explore your thoughts, feelings and challenges. We will work at a pace that feels right for you, including talk therapy, goal setting, homework, journaling, writing prompts or poetry if you like.
We can explore a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, motivation, or feeling stuck in life. Whatever brings you here, we’ll work together to find practical ways to move forward.
Everyone’s journey is different. At the start, we’ll set goals together to guide your progress and track changes over time. Therapy can help you feel more in control, notice shifts in thinking, handle challenges better, and make positive changes in daily life. Progress can be gradual and unique to you, and we’ll review it together regularly.
There’s no contract or long-term commitment, you’re in control. Some people like weekly sessions, others prefer every two weeks, or even occasional check-ins. We’ll agree together on what feels right for you, and we can always adjust the schedule as your needs change.
